Certificate in Program Evaluation
This program includes the following:
- program evaluation models
- specialized topics in program evaluation
- issues in program evaluation
This program will help you if you're in the following settings:
- government agencies
- nonprofit organizations
If admitted to a doctoral program, you could apply courses in the research core or cognate areas. You can apply these courses towards the completion of this certificate. But their inclusion needs approval from your advisor.
You must complete an accredited master's degree program to apply for this certificate. You'll also need to send in official transcripts, though a GRE test score is not required.
The certificate provides a combination of lecture, discussion and hands-on activities. You'll have the opportunity to design and conduct aspects of program evaluation. Opportunities exist for applying competencies learned in the classroom to job-related situations. A few of the practicum sites for EPRS 8670 may offer limited financial support.
This certificate is free-standing. That means admittance to a degree program is not necessary to pursue this certificate.
Survey of Graduate Students
We surveyed graduate students on why this certificate would interest them. If accepted, but not in a degree program, you'll enter as a non-degree graduate student.
“My professional background is in program management, so I’d love the certificate because it would provide me with the credentials to re-engage in that kind of work as a consultant upon graduation.”
“I’d like to become a program evaluator in the education realm (preferably at the district level) and possibly go into education consulting. A Certificate in Program Evaluation would add great value to my experience at GSU and to my preparation to contribute to improve the education system.”
The Certificate in Program Evaluation is an approved certificate by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
